They call it the beautiful game!
Oh my God! That was an incredible day!
Three close matchups, including Australian and the Netherlands (3-2 Netherlands), Espana and Chile (0-2), and Croatia and Cameroon (4-0).
I've decided to write about what I know and today all I know is football. And what don't I know? I've been watching obsessively! All this week, I've been obsessed with the World Cup. This was quite a day though. First a very very tense match, where first one side then the other was ahead, until the winner was kicked in, deciding the matter. Then SPAIN - the kings of football as they saw it - were DETHRONED by CHILE, in a very deciding two-nil scoreline. Crown Prince Felipe comforted them in the locker room, but he couldn't stay. He had to fly back to Spain to take his father's place as king. Cold comfort for the Spaniards, indeed.
And then, in a another bizarre twist, Croatia outscored Cameroon 4 nil! I haven't even watched that match, but it must be fantastic. Cameroon, traditionally a very strong team, was outscored by the underdogs, who were only formed as a team recently.
This is truly turning out to be a very memorable World Cup, with many goals being scored. More than that, though, it is a World Cup of the underdogs, of the little guys who have such faith in each other that they are bound to win.
